Abel Cêpa Clinches Second Chapas Title at 2024 South American Table Football Championship

On October 13, in the city of Antofagasta, Chile, the Chapas rule competitions for the 2024 South American Table Football Championship were held.

Vasco player Abel Cêpa was the winner of the individual competition under the Chapas rule, defeating Chilean Marco António Galindo by a score of 1-0. This is the second individual continental title (2017 and 2024) for the Vasco player, making him the tournament’s biggest winner. Abel is the only athlete to have been present on all individual podiums under the Chapas rule, in the four competitions held to date. Abel is also a two-time individual Carioca champion (2019 and 2024) and a two-time Brazilian champion (2019 and 2023).

Chile won its first South American title under the Chapas rule by beating the Brazilian team.

Palmeiras won its first title under the rule, by beating Cabami from Chile. No club has won the tournament twice. In 2017 the winner was ASR 08 Rosario (Argentina), in 2018 it was Vasco da Gama (Brazil), in 2019 it was Clube Hudson (Argentina) and in 2024 it was Palmeiras (Brazil).
